What’s this?
The share of people on the electoral register who voted at each general election, worked out from the votes counted in every constituency.
What it cannot tell you: It is a share of people registered, so it can move if the register is more or less complete, and it does not count people who were never registered. We show elections since 2010, the years Parliament publishes constituency figures for.
What’s this?
The number of people on the electoral register across the UK at each general election.
What it cannot tell you: The register is not the same as the number of people eligible: some eligible people are not on it, and some entries are out of date.

Questions people ask
How is turnout worked out?
We add up the votes counted and the people registered to vote in every constituency, then divide. It is a share of the people on the register.
Why only elections since 2010?
Parliament publishes figures for every constituency from 2010. Older elections are in the House of Commons Library's election statistics.
